Most standard filter bags on woodworking dust collection systems have a micron rating of 10 microns but can range for 5 to 30 microns.
The larger sized micron bags are good for tools like the table saw and planer as the chips and dust produced by them are usually on the large size but still do allow the fine dust to filter through the filter material. With the CarveWright we all know that the dust produced is very fine. When I was using a 5 micron filter bag I could visually see the fines floating through the air. This made it almost impossible to do any finishing and staining while carving not to mention what was being breathed into my lungs.
A fellow carver posted on the CarveWright users forum about a pleated cartridge filter from http://www.wynnenv.com/cartridge_filters.htm . The advantage of this cartridge type is that will filter down to 0.5 micron leaving your shop and lungs virtually dust free. The 35A Cartridge kit http://www.wynnenv.com/35A_series_cartridge_kit.htm is adaptable to almost any dust collection system and they include on their site procedures on how to make the cartridge work with several different makes and models. http://www.wynnenv.com/notes.htm
I went with the 35A274BLOL and was able to easily make if fit on my 2hp Harbor Freight dust collector. Now I can be carving with the CarveWright woodworking system and finishing/staining in the shop at the same time..
I’m having a problem I haven’t been able to solve. Every time I try to start my Craftsman Compucarve I get the same thing happening all the time
(measuring board
Clear board sensor)
all this after it moves 2 maybe 3 inches
stops no matter what.
Any ideas I’ve changed probably 2/3 of the machine
You are getting the clear board sensor error when trying to measure the board?
